With rising threats to our world's oceans, these northern Australian coastal conditions provide an excellent opportunity for conservation of coastal biodiversity both at national and international levels. 

Such global significance brings a great responsibility. We have a privilege and a duty to manage our Top End seas wisely for future generations.

Healthy seas are fundamental to our territory lifestyle. They support fishing, tourism and our incredible marine wildlife, such as turtles, dugongs, sharks and whales.
